Shorts From The Morgue © Dead Vision Productions

Do you even Dead Vision bro? This is my favorite film house. Dead Vision Productions headed by Lucky Cerruti. This is a collection of shorts from DVP's earliest days. It has 5 shorts with a total runtime of roughly 15 mins. And for those of you who don't wanna wait and read this or too lazy to go buy this compilation you're in luck. All of these are available to watch 100% free at the Dead Vision Production's YouTube channel. So make sure to head over there and check them out!

I feel this showcases just how well Lucky is at crunching a story along with visual effects into a short amount of time. He gets in, socks you in the face, and gets out. I feel that's one of his strong points even today. He knows what he wants to get across and by golly he gets it across. If you're a fan of DVP than you know there is always this almost tangible atmosphere that Lucky creates. That talent is present even in these early shorts. It's definitely a standard that i hope is kept up at Dead Vision.

Well let's do a quick quick quick run down of these shall we?

×××ALARM×××
Good effects. I like the idea being modernized. I am however kinda over the whole 'how'd that get in me' type storyline. 2/5

×××WHITE ELEPHANT×××
My favorite in this collection. Great fucking story. Really entertaining to watch it unfold. Love how it gets more disturbing with each gift. And fuck I really enjoyed Lucky's character's gift. Very original story. 5/5

×××STUFFED×××
Another one with Lucky. This one is pretty cool. Have to admit, I thought i saw this one coming. Ending got me. And if you can throw a little surprise twist in a 1 minute short, you're doing something right. Only thing about it is it's right after WHITE ELEPHANT so the bar was still really high. Honesty that's the only thing. 3/5

×××COUCH POTATO×××
Love the noir feel. Bout time we get to see a dead body. Really like the play on the title. But if this was called anything else, i wouldn't have really enjoyed it. That little bit of humor went a long way for me. 3/5

×××A BUTCHER'S LAMENT×××
Another great example of Lucky's ability to tell a good story in a small amount of time. Good bit of gore in this. Outside of WHITE ELEPHANT this is the most memorable of the collection. 4/5

This is a great little collection of shorts that really does show the strengths of Dead Vision Productions. Lucky knows what he is good at and he grabs it by the balls. In the short amount of time that DVP has been active they have came a long way. From single shots of one actor in front of a table with some food to making his own full body monster puppet for their most recent release, FREAK. You can tell that Lucky really cares about what he puts out. High quality, low budget.

Make sure to check out Dead Vision Productions for all their releases and VOD.

DVP is, as I've said, my favorite label. Check them out and you'll easily see why. Trust me. I'm Some Guy.
